Prestige Yacht Charters Commemorates Sinking of Titanic |
|
Prestige Yacht Charters, a premier luxury-yacht charter company serving the New York metro area, today announced it has commemorated the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912 by creating a special resource page on its website including an exact replica of the first-class menu for the passengers' last meal. |
The resource page is available at http://prestigeyachtcharters.com/titanic.asp until May 15 and includes links to related sites such as a 35-page exhibit of original news articles and artifacts by Encyclopedia Britannica, the Titanic Historical Society, the largest museum on the Titanic in the United States, and a description of the discovery of the Titanic at the bottom of the Atlantic by Robert Ballard in 1986. Less serious references are available for the Titanic movie, a Titanic game and a 30-second cartoon about the event.
David Hackert, President of Prestige Yacht Charters, said, "The sinking of the Titanic represents an occasion of tragic lore in the boating industry and a milestone in our national history. In honor of those who have passed away, we have created a resource page with one of the most varied listings of Titanic materials I've ever seen."
The first-class menu recovered from the Titanic, and replicated on the Prestige website, includes a ten-course feast with gourmet selections such as poached salmon with mousseline sauce, and peaches in chartreuse jelly. In future years, Prestige hopes to reproduce the feast aboard its Lexington yacht, built in the steamer style of the era. Participants will receive a stylized menu as a souvenir and be regaled by music from the era and wait staff dressed in corresponding fashion styles. The commemorations will culminate on the 100th anniversary of the tragedy in 2012.
